Equinix hits 3TBPS peak across EMEA IXs.

1 min read

Equinix has reached a major milestone across its Internet Exchanges (IX) in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), surpassing a combined peak traffic throughput of 3 terabits per second (Tbps)—a landmark achievement that underscores the company’s growing strength in global interconnection.

“When people think of Equinix IX, flagship locations like Singapore, Dallas, or Ashburn often come to mind—not necessarily our IXPs in EMEA,” said Thomas Gould, Senior Manager for Business Development, Interconnection and Peering at Equinix. “And when it comes to Internet Exchanges in Europe, it’s typically the long-established regional IXPs that lead the conversation. That’s understandable.”

Gould emphasized that Equinix is not in a race to unseat the legacy IXPs that have long dominated the European market. “Our goal has never been to compete head-on with these respected European IXPs, but to complement and partner with them. We’re committed to supporting the growth and diversity of Europe’s interconnection ecosystems while also offering a robust IX platform of our own,” he said.
